Applications 2005–2011 Alfa Romeo 159 2.2 2.2 JTS engine. With the arrival of 159, a 2.2 JTS was also introduced. The engine block is sourced from GM ( Ecotec L61 ).

JTSEngines - Confused. Basically - I'm shopping - I keep coming across 'bargain' 2.2 JTS engined cars. However my trusty Alfa specialist tells me to avoid at all costs as it's a 'badly designed' engine and will be full of woes such as blocked-injectors, cat-problems and hence NCT (MOT) emission failures etc.

Afterreading the memory it had a P0016 code (CRANKSHAFT/CAMSHAFT POSITION CORRELATION) stored. This scared the **** out of me really 'cause I've heard of the 'chain stretch' problem on early 2.2 cars So I cleared the fault (SnapOn Scanner) and drove on gently. The car felt fine for a few hours but it feels like it's down on power Citygas mileage is about 22mpg (imperial) or 12.84L/100km; Issues that you should be aware: Rust in the front subframe: this affected a major number of Breras and 159 Most2.2 engines have had timing chain replacements around the 50,000 to 60,000 mark (some a lot ealrier). Mine was done at 55k miles by Alfaworkshop for a fixed fee of £550 inc parts. Sometimes when the chain stretches, one of the intake or exhaust solenoids also go faulty.
1 · Sep 12, 2020 Hi Guys New here and to Alfa Romeo! I am looking to buy a 2.2JTS Brera and asked the seller for a video of start up and tick over before long drive to view
Im pretty sure they have done the 2.2 JTS. THey have done a few of the new diesels for members on here. Even if other companies eventually manage to re-map the 2.2 engine I doubt they will cure the problems we have. We are dedicated to Alfa's only and test these cars on a daily basis, we dont just have a few sessions on the rollers and
Thisproblem seems to be more of an issue on 2.2 JTS models. Around the intake manifold – This can be a sign of the dreaded swirl flap issue (more on it later in this section). There is absolutely nothing wrong with a rebuilt or replaced engine in an Alfa Romeo 159, however, just make sure that the work was carried out by a competent Alfa

22 JTS 159 suddenly misfiring going up hill, P1670 code, fuel leak at tank. I bought a 2007 159 2.2 JTS in November of 2021. 203,000km on the clock and not in the best cosmetic shape, but seemingly mechanically sound, and it's run well since the first test drive. The only persistent issues I've had are an unpleasant smell of fuel at the back
