Generic villagers were passive mobs that inhabit villages, with different professions, breed, and interact. Their clothing varied according to their occupation. A player could trade with villagers, using emeralds as currency. They were replaced with a revamped version of themselves in the Village & Pillage update. In Java Edition, old villagers can only spawn in versions of Minecraft prior to Archived post. New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast. Sort by: Open comment sort options. There are chances that your villager will despawn if it moves more than 128 blocks away from your house or world in your gameplay. There could be another way by which your villager will despawn in Minecraft world. If your villager is in mating mode and you are not breeding them, then your villager will despawn.
Cheko2015 9 years ago #1. I know some mobs naturally stay in place. But for animal mobs that ARE NOT caged in and enemy mobs, will naming them preserve them form despawning.. I just made a new world and i was going to add new adventure mode esque elements into it before play. Elements especially inspired by the Legend of Zelda and Lord of the
Could really use some help. They're obviously not meant to. I saw Mumbo Jumbo having a similar issue with his zombie villagers. So I'd say it's definitely a bug, and a big one for sure. Let's hope this gets fixed soon. It is probably a bug, because this isn’t supposed to happen. In some cases, it is due to corrupt chunks not saving correctly.

On the contrary, some people opined that having name tags is all that can keep your villager away from despawning . There are various updates in Minecraft Vanilla Edition. I don't believe they do, a quick read through of the minecraft wiki mentions that once the skeleton riders are killed, the horses are considered "tamed" and in fact, you don't even need a saddle to ride them, so I'd assume they wouldn't despawn as they are now considered yours. It is not really a bug as both parts of the program do what they are intented to do. The nametag gives a name and causes the mob to not despawn and the peacefull setting removes all hostile mobs which includes the ones with nametags . (Removing is technically different from despawning). fCcK4.
